Representative Thom Tillis, The Mecklenburg County NC Republican Party, and Non-Custodial Family Statistics

It is important for Representative Thom Tillis and the Mecklenburg County NC Republican Party to remember that non-custodial fathers make up 42% of the voting population in North Carolina and that we come from all races and socioeconomic backgrounds. Additionally, when you add just ONE strong paternal family member, be it a wife of a father, a mother of a father, or sister of a father then our numbers approach 84% of voters. Thus, NC Fathers is confident that we make up the largest swing vote in North Carolina.  If Representative Tillis or the Mecklenburg County Republican Party is not impressed by these figures then we ask that voters in the non-custodial family help send this message to him and the Republican Party. NC Fathers believes that once non-custodial families in NC realize their power as a overwhelming and significant voting block then the issues outlined below will be changed and you will be allowed to equally raise and nurture your children like maternal families are doing daily.

Roughly half of custodial mothers today have male children who will one day be pushed to the margins of their kids lives if they experience a divorce and have children. Where do you think these non-custodial grandmothers (who will also be marginalized as well) will stand then? With Equally Shared Parenting Representative Tillis?

We realize that the data below is highly controversial and difficult to deal with, but they are reality and demand attention regardless if it is not popular or politically correct because we are reaching 1700 readers a day and receiving contact from very frustrated and angry non-custodial families hourly. It is very important that Representative Tillis and the Mecklenburg County Republican Party understand this.

Representative Thom Tillis, The Mecklenburg County NC Republican Party, and Child Support Enforcement

Representative Tillis and the Mecklenburg County NC Republican Party must understand that the reason NC Child Support Enforcement is such a controversial topic is that most people believe it’s efforts is designed to provide support for NC children from fathers who REFUSE to help support their kids. And while this may be true in a small population of NC Fathers, the reality is that there is a large majority of fathers that desire to be equally active and supportive with their children OUTSIDE of what enforcement defines fathers to be. NC Fathers believes that when children have equal involvement of mothers, fathers, and both extended families then children will receive NATURAL support (financial, emotional, psychological) that no amount of enforcement can ever achieve.

We are VERY sure that NC Fathers and their families are very well aware of the divisive nature of the current system where our kids see us only 4-5 days a MONTH, we are marginalized as visitors instead of parents, we are jailed when in financial difficulty while custodial mothers receive housing, medical, educational, and financial assistance to make financial ends meet. Additionally, Representative Tillis and the Mecklenburg County Republican Party must realize that custodial mothers in NC receive FREE legal representation by enforcement while non-custodial families have to secure a private attorney that charge $5000 retainers.

We believe that is the above problems that are alienating children from paternal families and not refusal of fathers to be active in their kids lives that is the problem.

While on the subject of enforcement, there is no denying that this agency is a big government program that helps generate revenue for low assistance programs at social services. We believe that Representative Tillis and the Mecklenburg County Republican Party will not be shocked to find that non-custodial families are not happy about being a revenue source for low assistance programs. Few non-custodial families realize that federal enforcement gives back money to the State of NC on the amount of increased enforcement dollars they collect. Is there a relation to no custody and low visitation so that child support collection can be maximized so that funding can flow? We think so.

Representative Thom Tillis, The Mecklenburg County NC Republican Party, and Domestic Violence

Like child support enforcement, NC Domestic Violence is a equally controversial topic that surely Representative Tillis and the NC Republican Party can not deny. We realize there are formidable groups lined up to maintain DV policies in NC and this is not a popular political issue. And, NC Fathers agrees that Domestic Violence is a VERY serious issue in North Carolina.

However, Representative Tillis, what is NOT being addressed is new statistics on Domestic Violence that show that women hit and use control just as much as men, and it is not part of the statistics because the system is designed just to report male on female violence and control.

We believe that Representative Thom Tillis and the Mecklenburg County Republican Party is VERY aware of VAWA legislation and we believe lots of funding is generated for social services programs from this program. However, let us be clear, the Violence Against Women Act is written JUST to focus on male on female violence and the law is actually very dangerous in that it allows women to get restraining orders and alienate fathers from their children when women simply “feel” like they are being abused. Once a restraining order is issued, fathers in NC have to immediately abandon their homes, community property, and children because someone felt abused.

Furthermore, we believe that this very low threshold for evidence of violence is a perfect storm for women to use FALSE allegations of abuse as a tactical advantage in custody and child support courts. We can ASSURE Representative Thom Tillis and the Mecklenburg County Republican Party that we hear from FEMALES in paternal families daily on how FALSE Domestic Violence is being used to control men and paternal families.

Representative Thom Tillis, The Mecklenburg County NC Republican Party, and Special Interest Groups

Representative Thom Tillis and the Mecklenburg County NC Republican Party should also be aware at the numbers of special interest groups that are lined up to get federal child support and domestic violence funding and make money from this industry on the backs of NC non-custodial families not having equal access to their children. Surely Representative Tillis and the NC Republican Party will recognize that lawyers realized that two parents will fight for two decades in family court over children, and that when you give one parent (custody, assistance) control over the other parent (non-custodial, jail) it sets the stage for fighting and legal retainers being secured.

Also, we wonder how much Representative Tillis and the Republican Party thinks that this SOFTWARE COMPANY will bill the State of NC for using Title IV-D funding to develop and implement this software to be used at State child support enforcement offices? We think that if this money was used to develop a program to empower both parents to get along and take the divisive nature of the courts out of the picture then this investment would bring more natural support for NC Children. Software does not help children. Two equal parents and their extended families help children Representative Tillis!

AGAIN, we ask that ALL NC non-custodial families realize their value as a LARGE voting block in NC, join our MAILING LIST, and use your votes to end the systematic abuses you receive in the NC Family Courts, with Legislators, with Judges, and with Special Interest groups that receive power, votes, and money on you not being allowed to equally parent your children.

AND, we hope that Representative Thom Tillis and the Mecklenburg County NC Republican Party gets this message before we build a massive mailing list of NC Non-Custodial families who are very frustrated, angry, and ready to realize their potential and make changes.
