UPDATE 2014 ELECTIONS: We recently discovered Judge Nancy Gordon’s election website in which she states “I have reflected on what role, if any, my being female plays in my professional life. I’d describe myself as a feminist and I support causes and concepts that are frequently categorized as “women’s issues.”  That’s always puzzled me because women make up half of the American population– so how are there issues that are women-only issues?

This statement should give every male voter pause, especially if you are a father who has ever been in the family courts and been marginalized. Let us keep in mind that feminist, like Judge Gordon, is the single largest entity advocating that fathers not have custody OR equal parentage after a divorce or relationship breakdown. But I suspect as a feminist, the Judge does not care about what men think.

However, there is a group the Judge surely must consider and that is women in paternal families who are going to become marginalized when a district court judge denies equal parentage and assigns him as a visitor. Upon his marginalization in the courts, also comes marginalization of a paternal grandmother and step-mother along with other women in the paternal family. This is very much a concern we have for women in paternal families.

Nancy Gordon for Judge in 2014? I would be very very careful ladies if you are in a paternal family.

Feminist want equality? Not for your sons in family court!

Secondly, can you imagine the uproar if Judge Gordon was a Frank who looked out for Men’s rights and gave custody to men 85% of the time?

How could have Judge Gordon and Judge Walker have helped prevent the Derek Walker shooting?

On 3/31/2014, Judge Gordon posted on her re-election Facebook page some information about Veteran’s Treatment court in which Durham County has instituted to help all veteran’s deal with challenges they have after returning from war and conflict. We want to applaud Judges in the Durham County courts for this measure, yet we still are seeing veteran’s flocking to our website to the tune of about 5 per day telling us horror stories about their time in the family courts. Why is Judge Gordon and Judge Walker doing nothing about stories like this?

Judge Nancy Gordon, Judge Doretta Walker, and Durham County NC Department of Social Services Agency

Durham County NC non-custodial families need to ask Judge Doretta Walker and Judge Nancy Gordon WHY families are funding social service low income assistance programs by paying child support. NC Fathers thought that NC Child Support Enforcement efforts was about supporting Durham County children? However, in looking at our article on Judge Marcia Morey, it seems that a LOT of special interest lobby groups are gaining money and power from this big government program. Does Judge Walker and Judge Gordon have any problems with this?

Does Judge Doretta Walker or Judge Nancy Gordon of the Durham County NC Courts have any problem with the fact that since Durham County NC non-custodial families are a serious funding source for social service programs, do either of them fear that administrators who write policies and procedures will implement directives that CPS staff will use to keep men and fathers non-custodial and paying as much child support as possible so their paychecks continue coming?

Does Judge Doretta Walker or Judge Nancy Gordon also fear that since DSS has 100% complete immunity, that many Durham County NC non-custodial family members are unable to get justice when DSS crosses legal or ethical boundaries? Both Judge Walker and Judge Gordon should be aware that we get 1800 daily visitors and we are hearing daily that social services are using immunity to cross many lines and fear no accountability.

NC County Court

In looking at our article on Judge Marcia Morey, both Judge Doretta Walker and Judge Nancy Gordon surely cannot deny that there are many serious frustrations for Durham County non-custodial families that have persisted for decades. Surely, both Judges are aware that many agencies and groups are speaking out on “absent fathers”, but if you look at many of the problems the Family Courts and Social Services agencies are helping to create that absenteeism.

Durham County NC non-custodial families need to ask Judge Doretta Walker and Judge Nancy Gordon of the Durham County courts why fathers are going to jail when they cannot make financial ends meet in this dangerous economy, but that custodial mothers get extensive federal and state assistance to make ends meet.

With respect to the NC Domestic Violence Coalition, will Judge Doretta Walker and Judge Nancy Gordon admit that the State of NC Domestic Violence response focuses solely on MALE on FEMALE violence despite evidence showing that women hit and use aggression to control (If you leave me, or call police, I will take your kids from you) just as much, and that FEMALE on FEMALE Domestic Violence surpasses MALE on FEMALE violence? Judge Walker, does this have anything to do with the political nature and funding for Domestic Violence that NEEDS males and fathers to be offenders so that funding can continue, and if FEMALE violence was to be taken serious, it would cut into funding because agencies would have to develop programs and build shelters for men?

Is Judge Doretta Walker and Judge Nancy Gordon SURE that women do not use the politically correct hot button nature of Domestic Violence as a tactical advantage in divorce and child custody matters? Or, are Judges in the Durham County Family Courts allowing ZERO or low evidenced based Domestic Violence restraining orders to pass because it is seen as politically correct and helps with funding?

Are Judges Walker and Gordon aware that we hear from WOMEN of Paternity who tell us about these issues daily?

Judge Nancy Gordon, Judge Doretta Walker, and Durham County NC Non-Custodial Family Dynamics

Will Judge Doretta Walker and Judge Nancy Gordon of the Durham County NC Courts concede that NC non-custodial families represent 4.5 million NC voters, and that many are in Durham County? What would happen if paternal grandmothers, step-mothers, paternal aunts, fathers, and friends of non-custodial families unite and start using their voting numbers to reform this extremely divisive system that hurts EVERYONE in non-custodial families?

Will Judge Doretta Walker or Judge Nancy Gordon admit that if these families unite, that the NC Family Courts and Social Services agencies will adopt policies and procedures around something like EQUAL shared parenting that brings two parents, and extended families to the table for Durham County NC children? Surely, both Judges will admit this brings more resources and opportunities to children than any amount of enforcement will ever bring?

  1. I haven’t had Judge Gordon. But having gone through the family court system in Durham, I can tell you that she has a positive reputation among all of the dozens of lawyers and other fathers I met. Whenever a father would file a new custody case, they would hope for Judge Gordon b/c she is known to be the most fair.

Like I said, I’ve never seen her preside. I doubt she’s perfect. But I don’t think she should be on the top of your list for Family Court Judges to go after.

    • Hi JohnO, thanks for commenting. Our article on Judge Nancy Gordon and Judge Doretta Walker is not meant to “go after” them. In fact, the entire purpose of our article is not meant to sway Judges at all. Our goal is to target the people in the counties they serve who are searching for them, and educate them on many of the problems non-custodial fathers and their families face. We also realize there are Judges that are “more fair”, but even when the “most fair” Judges rule there is still a MAJOR dichotomy.

  2. I have had my case in Durham and if you are white you loose as a man. There is nothing fair or just don’t even follow the state general status on matters before the court. If you are a male you will not get any justice in this court system. I am amazed at just how much they can get away with.
