NC Fathers has already sent Rep Hamilton correspondence on these issues, but as of yet she has declined to reply and leaving us with the impression that she has no interest in these issues.

It is important to note that Representative Susi Hamilton has not signed on to a 2013 House version for Shared Parenting in North Carolina which continues to allow Judges in NC to alienate thousands of New Hanover County women from their grandchildren, step-children, and nieces and nephews just because they are related by paternity.

Representative Susi Hamilton and New Hanover County NC Non-Custodial Family Dynamics

Representative Susi Hamilton is a champion of women, but we have to wonder what women in paternal families think of her? Does anyone in the NC General Assembly realize the numbers of paternal grandmothers, step-mothers, paternal aunts, and other women in these families who are systematically alienated from their children and who live under the stigma of visitor grandmothers/aunt/step-mother who only deserve to have 4 days a month visitation with their children? As a Democratic elected official, we have to take issue with Representative Susi Hamilton claiming to support (or ask for their support) ALL women. Is the Representative throwing WOMEN of paternity under the bus, but supporting those that have no “male baggage” ?

Is Representative Susi Hamilton and the New Hanover County NC Democratic Party aware African American and Hispanic Fathers lose custody and are given less visitation with their children after divorce at a greater rate than other ethnic groups? Does Representative Hamilton realize that NC Child Support Enforcement is twice as likely to come after African American and Hispanic Fathers after Divorce?

NC Fathers is asking Representative Susi Hamilton if she supports the Federal Child Support Enforcement initiative, or equal parentage of Non-Custodial New Hanover County NC families? If you read the red and blue graphic above, you clearly saw where Child Support Enforcement is funding Social Services Welfare and Low Income Assistance Programs. Therefore, it is in the State of NC’s best Interest if New Hanover County NC non-custodial families spend less time with their children so that increased child support can be collected. And, with increased collection of child support, comes greater Social Services Funding.

NC Representative

Roughly half of custodial mothers today have male children who will one day be pushed to the margins of their kids lives if they experience a divorce and have children. Where do you think these non-custodial grandmothers (who will also be marginalized as well) will stand then? With Equally Shared Parenting Representative Hamilton?

Susi Hamilton

NC Fathers wants to make it VERY CLEAR to Representative Susi Hamilton that generating money for social services on the back of non-custodial fathers, paternal grandmothers, step-mothers, paternal aunts, and other family members not being allowed to have equal parentage with their children is very sick.

We surmise that Rep Hamilton and the New Hanover County NC Democratic Party will try to dispel this correlation to social services funding and non-custodial families, so we will send readers to a government run website that spells out the INCENTIVE for the State of NC to support Child Support Enforcement. Please click on the link to the Social Security Act, Title IV, Part D, section 458 suspiciously entitled “INCENTIVE PAYMENTS TO STATES“.

New Hanover County Democrat

Let us be clear, with equal parentage and more access by non-custodial parents, child support would decrease, thus enforcement figures, thus social security funding. And this legislation is 100% Democrat Legislation.

How do you feel knowing that by you not having equal parentage and access to your children, you are helping Welfare and Low Income Assistance participants enjoy their parentage and access to their children?

What does Representative Susi Hamilton have to say to current New Hanover and NC mothers who have male children that will one day be marginalized as visitor fathers and who must pay a big government agency for access to the child? How is this future grandmother going to deal with being the visitor grandmother?

Is Representative Susi Hamilton Pandering To the Women’s Rights Groups Who Gain From the Dichotomy in the NC Family Courts?

No doubt, the NC Democrat Party and Representative Susi Hamilton enjoys the female vote. And since women get custody of their children 85% of the time in the NC Family Courts DESPITE the NC Administrative Offices of The Courts telling us that there is NO PRESUMPTION for who gets custody, clearly women (and their lobby organization who help political candidates) benefit from the current Family Court System. This is why we are asking New Hanover NC Women of Paternity to turn their back on Rep Hamilton until she sponsors or supports EQUAL PARENTAGE and EQUAL ACCESS of non-custodial families to their children and stop focusing on how you can use their sons, husbands, and nephews as a way to generate money and keep special interest groups that gain from this happy.

How will Representative Susi Hamilton and New Hanover County NC non-custodial women in paternal families deal with this:

Much of what we are experiencing in the NC and New Hanover County Family Courts has much to do with second wave feminism and I want to point you to a page on the National Organization For Women website:

While on this page, scroll down until you see the link pointing to “The Liz Library” which is cited as “Debunking the Claims About Joint Versus Sole Custody”

Now click the link to go to a website run by a woman who is a DEVOUT and VERY RADICAL second wave feminist and who is still by many standards considered the “Go To Girl” for NOW in family court matters. Just 10-12 years ago, that website was the gold standard for what second wave feminism demanded in their lobbying efforts. Take about 30 minutes to read other sections of this website because it is these teaching from NOW that entirely run the family courts today.

While I think every New Hanover County NC man or father (think voter) reading this website will cringe, but this post is mostly for WOMEN in paternal families, custodial mothers who will find themselves in our seats one day, and for non-custodial mothers to realize the backlash that is occurring against these teachings that has thrown our system into one HUGE mess.

So you still think that Feminism does not hurt women Representative Hamilton?

Update June 1, 2013: After repeated attempts to contact Democratic Rep Susi Hamilton about the issues in this article, and given the comments below, we caution New Hanover County NC non-custodial parents, step-mothers, grandmothers, and other family members in the next election to consider another Representative for your district because it seems clear she is not interested in your family having equal access and parentage of your young loved ones.

If as a New Hanover County NC Father, Paternal Grandmother, Step-Mother, Paternal Aunt, or some other female in a Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, or other Ethnic Family who identifies with this article, we ask that you extensively share this article on Representative Susi Hamilton and the New Hanover Democratic Party with other families on Facebook, Twitter, and other major Social Networking Sites. Does Representative Susi Hamilton know how many non-custodial voters exist in New Hanover County NC Families?

  1. As a past supporter of Rep Susi Hamilton, and as a non-custodial grandmother, I want to let her know that many women in non-custodial families are being hurt in this process where the courts encourage two parents to fight in order to win something. This is having dramatic impacts on children and it needs to stop. How many custodial mothers with sons (like my grandson) will one day be going through this? Do these mothers not have concerns for their sons when they become fathers? Shame on your Representative Hamilton for making this a gender issue and supporting an organization that engages in gender politics. We need less special interest groups and more equality.

  2. Thank You for this article, and it is a shame that Rep Hamilton in her quest for Women’s Rights has literally forgotten about paternal related mothers, step-mothers, aunts and all mothers with male children who will one day be kicked to the curd in their kid’s lives after a divorce.

    • Janelle, great post! It is likely that this Representative is just towing her party line and has latched onto the Women’s Rights issue to secure votes. But I think your comment pretty much solidifies that family law cuts both ways. In fact, it is destroying a lot of step-mothers, grandmothers, and female siblings in African-American and Hispanic families too. Just food for thought.

  3. Rep Hamilton, I am a New Hanover County Father who lives at the poverty line. My wife left me for a man on Facebook from her High School years and left the state while I was at work. It cost her exactly $0 to do this. Now, I must come up with $15,000 just to SEE my kids for which I don’t think will ever happen. I realize you probably do not care about Men, but what do you say to my mother who cries daily wondering where her grandson is?

  4. So Rep Hamilton is endorsed by an organization that is concerned about Women’s issues, which is important, but no Men’s Rights groups what does that tell you male voters and women in paternal families in New Hanover County. And, what level of feminism group is she endorsed by, the feminist for ALL Human Rights or the radical feminist know to hate Men?

    • Jemal, we will say that we have on MANY occasions tried to engage Rep Hamilton on the issues and she has no desire to talk about these issues so perhaps you are right.

  5. So Susi Hamilton is endorsed by the National Organization For Women huh? Well you can best I will not vote for her again. I’m all for Women’s Rights but this organization has lost focus and now works to undermine men instead of looking out for Human Rights. New Hanover County needs to work for diversity, not gender warfare. By the way I am older and my kids are grown, you fathers now a days have it a bit better but I’m sure things are still very biased.

  6. Excellent point you made that Custodial Mothers having an interest in Family Law reform, especially those with Male children but I don’t think Susi Hamilton will listen. The custody industry is too polar with Judges only receiving training from hard line feminist that want Mothers to win at any cost and this scares me for their male children.

  7. I am a Father who found out 2 years after the child was born that the Mother gave the child up for adoption and by law this was legal for her not to tell me because I was not married to her. I actually tried to talk with Representative Hamilton about this issue at the time and now I see why she was not outraged. This should be a crime. If you are going to have a child you should know who the father is and if you don’t then you should be required to contact everyone you had relations with and give him the option to raise the child. I suspect this law is to prevent Mothers from having to pay child support to Fathers and the adoption industry wanting to do as many adoptions as possible to further their industry. This is really sick stuff, I often think about this child as I would have loved to have raised him/her. Susi Hamilton should be ashamed of herself for letting this type of law go without some attention.

  8. I live in New Hanover county and just found this website! I am definitely joining you on Facebook because as a divorced father these issues REALLY affect me and my family. THANK YOU!

  9. I would like to see Susi Hamilton address the issue of pro bono services for families who do not have money to hire $20,000 dollar lawyers. We are stuck because the Mother left my son and she can just sit hoping we never get the money together to get visitation with the children. This should not be allowed to happen in North Carolina or anywhere!

  10. You can call me a misogynist all you want, but I think it was a mistake for this Representative to accept endorsement by a hate group to fathers. I hope this article is seen by every male voter and female in his family that gets hit hard in the courts
