In case either Judge Scott Ussery or Judge Pauline Hankins are confused as to the major concerns Bladen, Brunswick, and Columbus County NC non-custodial families face each and every day in the District and Family Courts, we encourage our readers and both Judges to click on the red and blue graphic below to get a better idea of the disturbing problems we want changed. How Do you feel knowing that your child support payments are making money available for Welfare and Low Income Assistance Recipients to have an easier time raising and enjoying their kids while you are alienated from yours? Angry? How about knowing both these Judges know this is happening?

NC County Court

Our first, and foremost, concern that we want Judge Scott Ussery and Judge Pauline Hankins to address with non-custodial families is WHY we are funding social services low income assistance initiatives at the Bladen, Brunswick, and Columbus County Department of Social Services and putting food on the plate of many government contractors that work for NC Child Support Enforcement? Surely Judge Ussery and Judge Hankins can imagine the frustration and anger of non-custodial families that they are helping people they do not know on the back of their inability to get equal parentage and access to their children? If not, we encourage them to contact their Senators and Representatives about this horrendous fact about enforcement.

Our second question to Judge Scott Ussery and Judge Pauline Hankins, is there any correlation to denial of custody or low visitation awards for non-custodial families so that child support payments can be maximized and the accompanying federal dollars this brings? More on this issue HERE (Alabama related but enforcement is a federal program that equally affects NC).

Since it is clear that Bladen, Brunswick, and Columbus County NC and Burlington non-custodial families are funding social services and special interest groups, does Judge Scott Ussery or Judge Pauline Hankins have ANY concerns that this agency uses their 100% immunity from civil lawsuits to deal overly harsh and aggressive with non-custodial families because of their funding, while dealing lightly with custodial families? Are you sure Judges?

Why is Judge Scott Ussery and Judge Pauline Hankins not lobbying the Administrative Offices of the Courts for presumption of EQUAL shared parenting in the Bladen, Brunswick, and Columbus County NC District and Family Courts? Surely both Judges recognize that children who have TWO equal parents, AND their respective extended family of paternal grandmothers, step-mothers, paternal aunts, and other family members, get more NATURAL SUPPORTS than any federal agency or software program will ever bring? Or, do either of these Judges have evidence that the current system where two parents fight for 18 years to “win something – custody” is better for children? Sure, we realize it creates happy lawyers (which Judge Ussery and Judge Hankins are) because of $5000 retainers every few years, but surely neither Judge Lambeth or Judge Overby will say this is better for kids?

Again, we hope you will click on the red and blue graphic above to get detailed information on the issues we just touched on here.

Here is the good news. NC Fathers has to wonder what Judge Scott Ussery, Judge Pauline Hankins, their respective political parties, and other Judges in the Bladen, Brunswick, and Columbus County NC District and Family Court are going to think when Democrat, Independent, Unaffiliated, Republican, Caucasian, Hispanic, African American, and Asian non-custodial fathers join hands with the many paternal grandmothers, step-mothers, paternal aunts, and now adult children in these families and start affecting local, state, federal, and judicial elections? And, surely Judge Hankins and Judge Ussery recognizes the demographics above as being a significant swing voter base?

The bottom line? Because of the data above, NC non-custodial families equal about 4.7 MILLION voters in this great State. And, you are already a natural lobby organization who is angry and frustrated. If you are tired of being treated like a second class visitor family who only deserves 4-5 days a month visitation and a federally enforced family, then we encourage you to join our organization and help us send the message to Judge Scott Ussery and Judge Pauline Hankins that the time is NOW for equal shared parenting.

  1. Judge Barefoot took my grandaughter away from my daughter and gave custody to non family members when all these people did was lie on the stand and make my family look like trash. We didn’t have the money or means to fight and hire a top notch atty like the other family. It was awful but now it has been 3 years and my grandaughter is 8 and wears a size 16 extremely over weight she is so confused because she wants to be with her mom dad and sister she is being made to call the other family mom and dad and has to hear them talk bad about her family. Judge Barefoot basically let these people buy my grandaughter but this precious child is the one being damaged by his decision. How do you fight this?

    • Jatana, Family Court is an industry. As long as two parents are fighting, lawyers get paid. And, when lawyers are happy, Judges are happy because lawyers have so much influence over elections. In NC, someone has to lose so that child support is paid, this child support collection results in federal money from Title IV-D coming back to US States to replenish Welfare programs. Your granddaughter benefits most from having BOTH parents and both grandmothers in her life.
