Iredell County Department of Social Services in NC – BAD Child Protective Services

Iredell County Department of Social ServicesNC Fathers believes that Child Protective Services at the Iredell County Department of Social Services in NC has an incentive to be heavy handed with non-custodial families for who they rely so much on for federal money related to Welfare and Low Income Assistance Programs. At the same time, we also believe that custodial mothers in CPS cases are typically seen as the parents they give services too, and work very lightly with them. Additionally, because ALL NC Department of Social Services agencies are given 100% immunity by the NC Legislature for any bias or wrong they may commit on Iredell County NC families, NC Fathers believes that it is imperiative that these families start using their numbers to change the system. NC Fathers is an organization in NC who is working to bring reform to the NC Family Courts and Social Services agencies that historically are at odds with non-custodial fathers and families. It is important to note that NC Fathers has no problem with Social Services entitlement programs. We are just concerned that these programs use Iredell County NC non-custodial families to get federal dollars, and that the State of NC needs for non-custodial families to be in the situation they are in so there is someone to trigger the federal match money.

Also, NC Fathers believes that there will be LESS of a need for custodial mothers to receive social services assistance when non-custodial fathers, and his extended family have a greater stake with their children. We believe that children who have two equal parents, who have equal access and parentage, bring to the table two sets of extended family members that provides infinitely more resources and opportunities for Iredell County NC children that any big government or state program can ever hope to deliver.

So why is the Iredell County Department of Social Services geared towards using non-custodial families to trigger federal funds for custodial mothers who typically use their programs?

Since the birth of the Federal Child Support Enforcement Program and NC Domestic Violence Coalition, it is believed that Non-Custodial Fathers single handedly cause mothers to go on Welfare and Low Income Assistance programs when they leave a marriage, or beat their wives; therefore they should be paying into a system to reimburse these funds. Perhaps this fit back in the early and middle 1900s, but in 2012, women are empowered and working on the same level as men. When divorces occur, women are picking themselves up by the heels and move on with their lives, careers, and education much like fathyers do. However, there is a growing segment of parents who believe that if they have children, they can receive expanded housing, educational, financial, medical, and food assistance at social services in Iredell County NC and we believe that this growing group in there by choice, not because of a non-custodial father.

Like all big government programs, they help people, but there is also things going on behind the scenes that few people understand. And, child support enforcement and domestic violence are no exceptions. Both of these programs have become an industry where politics, infrastructure, jobs, and programs are built around these social issues and they require more and more money. In essence, the Iredell County Department of Social Services in NC NEEDS for Domestic Violence statistics to be high so they can continue to get greater funds. In the same vein, social services needs for non-custodial fathers to be men that refuse to support their children to trigger Title IV-D money. And, we think that all too often Child Protective Services is the arm within social services that meets this need of finding new revenue sources.

Dis you know that for every non-custodial father enforced by social services in Iredell County NC to pay $400 a month in child support, he is triggering $400 from the federal government to be given to social services that is then used to replenish low income programs. How do you feel knowing that your alienation and marginalization in your kids lives is helping low income assistance parents have an easier time raising their kids?

Our contention is that Social Services is a massive federal and state program that stands in the way of you having equally shared parenting with your children, and it is time for NC non-custodial families to unite around a lobby that tells Judges, Politicians, and Directors at Social Services to stop this practice.

Iredell County Department of Social Services in NC, and How Non-Custodial Families Can Effect Change

The NC Family Courts, Judges, LAWYERS, special interest groups, NC Department of Social Services agencies, and politicians all love the current divisive system that pits two parents against each other for 18 years so that money, power, and votes can be generated. Until ALL Iredell County NC non-custodial families join with other families around a central lobby, the other very well funded and entrenched groups will seek to seeing you have less and less time time your children for political purposes.

The GOOD NEWS is that given the Divorce rate and rate at which non-married parents are having children, and thanks in large part to the courts, there are a LOT of VERY ANGRY non-custodial fathers, step-mothers, paternal grandmothers, and paternal aunts and uncles desperately wanting reform so that they can have equal parentage and access to their kids. In fact, we estimate that roughly 5 million voters in NC come from a non-custodial family. And, we represent WOMEN in paternal families that are equally affected by the system. Furthermore, we come from all ethnic backgrounds. This makes NC Non-Custodial families a very powerful group of swing voters that in one election cycle could bring massive reform to the courts, and with agencies like the Iredell County Department of Social Services in NC.
