Mecklenburg County NC Non-Custodial Fathers, Step-Mothers, Paternal Aunts and Uncles, and Grandmothers are invited to click on the RED and BLUE graphic below to get a reminder of the complete disdain NC Legislators and Judges have for us. Representative Ric Killian should not be shocked to learn that these families should, and will be very angry to learn that their child support efforts are helping to fund Welfare and other Low Income programs at social services, and at the level of bias and discrimination being handed down to non-custodial families on a daily basis in the Family Courts. Where is the Republican leadership on this Representative? Why is the Judiciary sub-committees not addressing these issues Representative Killian?

Roughly half of custodial mothers today have male children who will one day be pushed to the margins of their kids lives if they experience a divorce and have children. Where do you think these non-custodial grandmothers (who will also be marginalized as well) will stand then? With Equally Shared Parenting Representative Killian?

Republican Representative Ric Killian and Issues Affecting Mecklenburg County NC Non-Custodial Family Voters

As controversial and delicate as the information we are about to discuss is, it is nonetheless information that Representative Ric Killian and other Legislators must address in the NC General Assembly. Again, there are major special interest groups that are talking to NC Representatives daily about these issues, but none of them are talking about it from the perspective of the non-custodial family. Therefore, we again ask that you share this article on Representative Killian with other Mecklenburg County NC families using email, facebook, twitter, and other social networking sites to bring about greater awareness and outrage by non-custodial families.

  • Child Support Enforcement should ONLY be for those parents (BOTH parents) who make a conscious decision to NOT be a part of their kids lives, or support them. Currently, as Rep Killian is aware, we shove parents who DO want to be apart of their kids lives into this program. Parents that want equally shared parenting and access to their kids should have it.
  • Representative Ric Killian should be aware that for going on 3 decades people have been talking about “absent fathers”. Are we sure that the systematic bias and fear the courts have proved we should be scared of isn’t causing fathers to give up? Why is the Representative not outraged when Judges allow custodial parents to move kids hundreds of miles away from non-custodial families?
  • The distinguished Republican Representative from Mecklenburg County NC is aware that in NC there is no presumption for who gets custody. When is he going to question why in a State promoting no bias in the courts, are 85% of one gender consistently winning custody battles?
  • Representative Killian, why are non-custodial grandmothers, step-mothers, and aunts visiting their sons/husbands/brothers in jail when they have difficulty making financial ends meet, yet YOU are allowing a system where custodial parents gets excessive social services assistance programs and tax credits to make financial ends meet. It is time to strengthen BOTH parents, and not OSTRACIZE one for the benefit of the other.

Again, NC Fathers is asking Mecklenburg County NC non-custodial families and Republican Rep Ric Killian to click on the RED and BLUE graphic above to get our exhaustive discussions of the disgusting issues non-custodial families and children face.

Republican Rep Ric Killian and Mecklenburg County NC Women Voters

For decades, the issue of children and custody has been framed as a male vs. female debate. Representative Killian may want to remember that for every father who is marginalized by the family courts and social services agencies, there are at least three women who get hurt as well: 1) paternal grandmothers 2) step-mothers 3) paternal aunts. Our organization thinks that the Mecklenburg County Republican Party is missing out on a lot of opportunities to create a whole lot of good, for a whole lot of women. And not just women, but women in African-American, Hispanic, and Caucasian Families. In fact, Representative Ric Killian should be aware that Mecklenburg County NC non-custodial voters which is estimated at 4.7 million voters in NC is the largest swing vote in the State. We come from all political backgrounds, socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnic backgrounds, and genders. Will the distinguished Republican Representative reach these voters before we do?
