Judge Elizabeth Trosch – Mecklenburg County Courts and Fathers

Judge Elizabeth TroschJudge Elizabeth Trosch of the Mecklenburg County NC District and Family Courts needs your vote in the next election, but should non-custodial fathers, step-mothers, paternal grandmothers, and paternal aunts and uncles supply that vote? What about other friends and families of non-custodial families in Mecklenburg County NC? Should sitting Judge Elizabeth Trosch get votes from now adult children voters who understand the complex bias in the NC Family Courts, bias that kept you from having an equal relationship with your father, paternal grandmother, and others in your family? Is Judge Trosch more concerned about how much child support you pay to a big government agency, rather than how much emotional, psychological, physical, and financial support paternal families give to children IF they were allowed to have equal parentage and access to their children? Is Judge Elizabeth Trosch, and other Judges in Mecklenburg County NC, contributing to the reported “absent father” problem we supposedly face in this State by allowing custodial parents to move kids hundreds of miles away, and by only giving limited visitation. Has anyone asked this Judge why in the State of NC, custodial parents get the shiny gold medal of being a custodial parent, while you get the bronze medal? Wouldn’t it make more sense to strengthen both parents for the greater good of children? Why is Judge Trosch putting Mecklenburg County Fathers in jail for financial difficulty (child support), but giving custodial mothers increasing housing assistance, educational assistance, medical assistance, work assistance, financial assistance, and tax incentives to make financial ends meet?

NC Fathers would also like to know if Judge Trosch thinks that adoption is more important than children knowing biological parents since she recently made a ruling IN THIS CASE that seems to imply that. In this case, the Judge told Greg Johns that because he didn’t want anything to do with his child, or helped the mother out, he does not have a case. How was this father supposed to help his child when he didn’t even know he had a child. Why is this Judge contributing to the horrible culture of mothers not informing fathers that he has a child, but holding him accountable for it anyway? Furthermore Judge Trosch, the day of this hearing was “National Adoption Day” and you allowed banners in the court celebrating this day, is it possible that you were making a political statement and supporting this national lobby the day that you ruled against Mr. Johns?

Roughly half of custodial mothers today have male children who will one day be pushed to the margins of their kids lives if they experience a divorce and have children. Where do you think these non-custodial grandmothers (who will also be marginalized as well) will stand then? With Equally Shared Parenting Judge Trosch?

Judge Elizabeth Trosch - Mecklenburg County NC District and Family Court

NC Fathers believes that Judge Elizabeth Trosch, and other Judges in the Mecklenburg County NC Family Courts have no idea what they ask non-custodial step-mothers, paternal grandmothers, aunts and uncles, fathers, and others to live with daily. But honestly, we don’t think they care. By clicking on the RED and BLUE graphic below, you will see a rather lengthy divisiveness Judges create between parents which we believe only contributes to anxiety, depression, behavioral problems, sexual acting out, and other problems in children when parents are fighting.

Judge Trosch, is the divisiveness in the family courts about keeping parents fighting for 18 years so that they pay NC Lawyers retainers for 18 years?

In looking at the data revealed by clicking the RED and BLUE graphic above, you see where the State of NC has fostered a relationship with the US Federal Government using the Social Security Act, Title IV-D specifically. Section 458 of this legislation provides that for every one dollar collected in child support, the Federal Government gives back one dollar to help replenish Welfare and Low Income Assistance programs. As the title of this section is named “Incentive Payments To States”, is there an incentive for Judges and Social Services Agencies to deny equal parentage and access by non-custodial families to their children, so that Welfare can stay running? We certainly think so, and it’s why there is so much emphasis placed on this federal program. As a Mecklenburg County non-custodial family, are you happy knowing that your child support efforts, and your alienation from your children is helping Low Income Mothers have an easier time raising their children?

Family Court and Child Support

Is Judge Elizabeth Trosch allowing FALSE Domestic Violence allegations to proceed to conviction to stay in the good graces of the money and power the domestic violence lobby brings at election time? Domestic Violence is such a profound problem in this State, why would Judges in the Mecklenburg County District Courts risk having false allegations bring doubt on real domestic violence situations? NC Fathers believes that an allegation of domestic violence or child abuse is becoming a routine tactic hopeful custodial mothers use in child custody matters to ensure that they win. We also believe that social services and Judges realize that more statistics translates to greater federal funding for domestic violence, and we are concerned that Judges are rubber stamping false allegations into actual abuse so that greater federal funding can be realized. And, we are hearing about this problem from WOMEN in non-custodial families.

Judge Elizabeth Trosch should realize that non-custodial families represent a lot of voters in Mecklenburg County NC and each day you send more and more angry people to our organization. NC Fathers believes that non-custodial families are a significant Swing Vote in NC given that we come from every racial and ethnic background, socio-economic background, and political party affiliation. Judge Trosch should know that WOMEN are equally hurt every time she rules on a child custody matter which 85% of the time is about protecting the mother/child relationship. In a State with no presumption for who gets custody Judge Trosch, 85% sure sounds like a big number, are you sure that there is no bias?

Judge Elizabeth Trosch has filed to run for her own seat as District Court Judge in 2014. Non-custodial families are strongly encouraged to leave comments and join us on Facebook to give us their thoughts on her efforts to remove your marginalization in the family courts and to create a system in Mecklenburg County that is less divisive.

  1. I’m the mother of a son who appeared before Judge Trosch involved in a custody battle. I can tell you that the Mecklenburg County courts are slanted towards the mothers in a big way. I felt somewhat sure that because my son wanted to be an active father that the courts would allow that. We always hear the Judges do not like purposeful absent parents, so I took that to mean that this Judge would be happy with my son.

I was wrong. He basically got what any absent parent would get. A few days visitation a month, and tons of child support. Elizabeth Trosch in her decision not only ruined my son’s ability to be a father, she ruined my ability to be a grandmother and my daughter’s ability to be a active aunt. I will NEVER forget this.

  2. Yes I can identify with this article. If your attorney takes you before Judge Trosch in a custody battle, he/she knows you are going to lose if you are a father.

  3. This Judge is a defender of the Democratic Party, who is a defender of Women. While I suspect this Judge smiles each time she ruins a father, she must forget that there are grandmothers and step-mothers like me who are getting the shaft as well. Shame on your Judge for not sticking it to the absent parents and empowering the ones who do want to be active parents.

  4. This Judge is very much mother centered and sees fathers as disposable in my opinion. If your lawyer takes you in front of this judge then he/she should be reprimanded. If I can discover this after one case, I know other lawyers can see it.

  5. Fathers in Mecklenburg County are removed from their children by the District Courts in greater numbers than those that walk away. After two days in the family courts I can see why more fathers just go away. Why spend $15,000 when it has already been decided that you are going to lose?

  6. My wife left our marriage and refused to allow me to see our child saying she would not allow it until a Judge told her she had to. It took me 8 months to save up $7,000 and this Judge never held her accountable and said that she had established consistency. I’m now a 2 day a month visitor to my child. Thanks Judge!

  7. Our family will not be voting for this Judge in 2014 and I am a woman (grandmother). She completely disrespected my son during his bid to have more than 4 days a month visitation.
