Children’s Law Center of Central NC in Forsyth County

Children's Law Center of Central NCThe Children’s Law Center of Central NC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Forsyth County NC who works with children that have experienced domestic violence and high conflict child custody disputes. The Executive Director of the Children’s Law Center is Iris Sunshine who is an attorney. Additionally, this organization works directly with the Forsyth County NC District and Family Courts who appoints Guardian Ad Litem’s from the Children’s Law Center to represent children ages 0-18. NC Fathers is an organization of NC non-custodial families across North Carolina and Forsyth County who demand reform in the NC Family Courts and Social Services agencies. You can learn more about our organization by reviewing OUR GOAL, joining OUR MAILING LIST, or visiting us on FACEBOOK. Recently, NC Fathers was contacted by several fathers who have had contact with the Children’s Law Center of Central NC by Forsyth County NC. After hearing their concerns, we decided to write this article to help educate Forsyth County NC non-custodial fathers, step-mothers, paternal grandmother, and aunts and uncles about the other side of High Conflict Custody Cases, Domestic Violence, and organizations that derive money from these issues and have agendas. Our organization is not alleging that the Children’s Law Center of Central NC or it’s Executive Director Iris Sunshine is one of these organizations, but we are going to present some information that non-custodial families need to consider when dealing with this organization. Also, we STRONGLY encourage non-custodial fathers who have had dealing with this organization, or have worked with Iris Sunshine and GAL’s in the courts to contact us so that we can learn more about this organization. NC Fathers absolutely welcomes Iris Sunshine, or anyone from the Children’s Law Center to contact and we will be happy to present their side to this article.

To Iris Sunshine and the Children’s Law Center, YES, women do commit domestic violence and kill their children.

Roughly half of custodial mothers today have male children who will one day be pushed to the margins of their kids lives if they experience a divorce and have children. Where do you think these non-custodial grandmothers (who will also be marginalized as well) will stand then? With Equally Shared Parenting?

Additionally, NC Fathers does believe that NC Children who experience domestic violence between parents, on them, or the pain of a high conflict child custody needs extensive services to make sure they are protected and can heal from these traumas. If this is the SOLE purpose of the organization that we write about today, then god bless them. But, unfortunately there is a sinister side to this story that Forsyth County NC non-custodial families in particular need to start paying attention to.

Children’s Law Center of Central NC and Forsyth County NC Non-Custodial Fathers and Families

Here is our concern. There are grassroots Domestic Violence organizations that want ALL Domestic Violence stopped regardless of gender or who is doing it the most. Then, there are Domestic Violence organizations that approach Domestic Violence only from the standpoint of male of female violence and completely deny female on male violence, male on male violence, and female on female violence. And, these organizations have a hidden agenda to make sure that all men are brought under a cloud of suspicion so that the Family Courts in NC remain women and children focused at the demise of fathers, your sons, your brothers, your husbands, and your fathers.

Additionally, in looking at the website for the Children’s Law Center of Central North Carolina, we saw nothing about false allegations of domestic violence which are becoming a common tool that mothers use as a tactical advantage in the family courts to win custody cases. Many Domestic Violence organizations adamantly deny this, but we believe that half of the NC population that have direct and indirect ties to a non-custodial family are victims of this and witnessed it first hand. NC Fathers also believes that Family Law Judges routinely allow known false allegations to proceed to conviction to stay in the good graces of the Domestic Violence lobby who have a tremendous impact on Judicial and Legislative elections.

Again, our concern, does the Children’s Law Center exists to highlight only male on female violence so that the courts remain women centered and fathers and families alienated from their children, and who overlook false allegations which most certainly will eventually cast doubt on REAL cases of domestic violence if they are not addressed?

Child Support and Abuse and Bias

Domestic Violence is a highly emotional issue that naturally people want to throw countless dollars at in an effort to stop this insidious problem. And, the NC State Government and Federal Government allocates billions of dollars a year towards this issue. And, with that, you see many non-profits and organizations that incorporate and receive grants and money to address Domestic Violence. Some want to address all Domestic Violence, while others use Domestic Violence to fund their organizations, agendas, and politicize this issue so they can advance a hidden agenda like keeping Forsyth County NC non-custodial families in the margins of children’s lives so that mothers maintain custody and have access to social services housing assistance programs, job assistance, food assistance, medical assistance, psychological assistance, and tax incentives to make financial ends meet. Our concern is that the Children’s Law Center of Central NC is one of these agencies and we look for Iris Sunshine to address our 4,967 non-custodial families that are NC Fathers members. Also, will Iris Sunshine and the Executive Board of this organization say how much money they received in the past year from donations and grants? Does the Children’s Law Center NEED Domestic Violence to continue so that more and more donations and grants keep coming in?

Another issue that is of GREAT concern to Forsyth County NC non-custodial families is that the Children’s Law Center of Central NC provides services to children of high conflict custody battles, and they work directly with the Forsyth County NC District and Family Courts. The reason that this is concerning is that the NC Family Courts are the single largest catalyst for high conflict custody matters. How many of you have spent $20,000+ in Family Court and had a Judge encourage two parents to get along EQUALLY for the betterment of children, and how many of you from paternal families have lost that battle? In fact, the Forsyth County NC Family Courts and Judges pit parents against each other so that there is a parent that wins, and a parent that loses. And, from this great conflict, we suspect this fuels many Domestic Violence incidents. Why are we not seeing anything about this on the website for the Children’s Law Center of Central NC or on the newsletters produced by Iris Sunshine? Furthermore, since Iris Sunshine is an attorney who either knows a lot of family law attorneys, or is one herself, don’t NC Lawyers have a financial interest in two parents fighting for 18 years so that they pay retainers?

Is the Children’s Law Center of Central North Carolina an organization that wants to prevent equally shared parenting from coming to North Carolina, and uses the emotional issue of Domestic Violence to drive public sentiment that only fathers abuse women and children, therefore they should never have custody or equal parentage and access to children? We can only hope that Iris Sunshine will contact us to address this issue.

Another issue that NC Fathers STRONGLY objects to is that the Children’s Law Center of Central NC allows law students to participate in interviews they conduct with parents in the Family Courts. To us, this is a breach of privacy and unprofessional.

Children’s Law Center of Central NC as Guardian Ad Litems in Forsyth County

If the Children’s Law Center of Central NC acted as a Guardian Ad Litem in your child custody or domestic violence case, we strongly encourage you to contact us.

NC Fathers would also like to ask Iris Sunshine if she is comfortable in asking for donations to her organization, and receiving grants while acting as impartial guardian ad litems? In looking at the list of donors, one specifically jumped out at us and that is the “The Womens Fund”. Now, as a WOMAN in a non-custodial family, do you feel comfortable knowing that this non-profit is receiving donations like this and is then expect to act as an impartial GAL in custody battles involving your son, brother, or husband?

Is this another example of the industry in the family courts where agencies get payed when parents fight?

NC Fathers would also like to know how many times this organization advocated that the child in a contested matter be with the mother, and how many times they decided that the child reside with the father.

Lastly, we hope that NC non-custodial fathers and WOMEN in paternal families will routinely share this article on the Children’s Law Center of Central NC with other non-custodial families in Forsyth County NC on sites like Facebook and Twitter so that we can continue protect your interest. NC Fathers accepts no donations, membership dues, or receives any grants. We simply believe that the best parent is two equal parents and extended families and we are committed to fighting the family courts, Judges, and organizations that derive money from gender warfare in the courts and social services agencies. 1. I am going through divorce for the first time. I have two great children. In the same case the children’s law center has been involved twice now. The first time was completely bias in favor of my ex wife and this go around isn’t going to be any better. They have no reason to be involved and the reason for which they are is a total fallacy.

    • Travis, thanks for commenting on our Children’s Law Center post. I would tread lightly with these folks. There are two problems I see with this organization. First, they get a lot of donations and grants from organizations that advocate for Women, immediately putting them in a position of bias. Second, most, if not all, organizations that do Domestic Violence work get federal VAWA money and therefore NEED for Domestic Violence to be a serious issue, so they have greater statistics, and can continue to get their federal and state money. But not all Domestic Violence, just male on female violence while completely overlooking female on male violence and violence in the LGBT community. It would not surprise me if this organization wasn’t creating a violence situation where there is none so that new statistics can be sent to Congress to get more money.

    • The only way the State of NC, The Children’s Law Center, or any organization in Forsyth County is going to help end ALL violence is to stop the sexual and gender politics around Domestic Violence and make it about rehabilitation instead of prosecution only and removing Men from their homers, children, and jobs so that they can justify their jobs and get more federal money to further an agenda.
