Police Chief Jerry Stillings of Moore OK And Domestic Violence

Police Chief Jerry StillingsPolice Chief Jerry Stillings of Moore Oklahoma has shown us what is wrong with domestic violence policies within police departments across America. That policy? In domestic violence situations, men are always the culprit, and officers are trained to automatically zero in on any male at the scene of a domestic violence call. Of course, much of this training is funded by the federal Violence Against Women Act enacted by feminist who only want domestic violence to be perpetrated by men while suppressing female on male and female on female violence so that feminist can use it for political purposes and drive funding to their organizations. Chief Jerry Stillings has also show that he has done considerable research on the Duluth model which has indoctrinated law enforcement, with the promise of feminist money, that only men are violent and must lead to mandatory arrests when they are called to any domestic situation. Unfortunately for the chief, this training has now turned on him and five of his officers.

In February of 2014, Moore Oklahoma police responded to a domestic situation in which the wife of Luis Rodriguez and her daughter got into a minor altercation where she ended up disciplining her child while the family was on a outing. Apparently 911 was called, police arrived, and like clock work, they immediately focused on Luis Rodriguez as the culprit without doing an investigation and attempted to arrest him leading to Luis dying at the scene.

Moore Oklahoma policeAccording to other media outlets, all officers in this situation are on paid leave and Chief Stillings has stated that after reviewing video of the arrest of Luis Rodriguez his officers acted appropriately in detaining him. According to a lawyer hired by the wife, Mr. Rodriguez was pepper sprayed in the eyes and mouth, then forced to the ground where 5 Moore Oklahoma officers attempted to handcuff him and he died.

Here is what likely happened to Luis Rodriguez even though this article is more about why police decided to forgo a scene investigation during a domestic dispute. It is likely that Luis was attempting to talk to officers on the scene who were only there to arrest him, he resisted, was pepper sprayed in the mouth and nose causing a constriction of his respiratory system and when 5 police officers sat on him while restraining him, he lost all ability to breath and died. Of course many reading this will point out that you never resists officers even if you are innocent and that is certainly debatable.

In addition, many reading this article, including Chief Jerry Stillings will say that we need a strong police response to domestic violence given that it is such a pervasive problem in this country and we agree. However, as newer studies are showing, women are just as likely to commit domestic violence as men despite what police officers have been trained to believe. Chief Stillings will likely also say that it is appropriate to always focus on a male at the scene of any domestic situation because men are usually the culprit. And while this may seem reasonable, it is akin to saying it is reasonable that we overlook 5 dead children because it wasn’t 9, or that it’s OK if women kill because more men do it.

Chief Stillings will also say that this incident is a rare event and that his officers respond to domestic situations routinely without incident.

But we have to wonder how many Moore Oklahoma men are in jail because officers just decided to arrest the male when called to any situation, and we have to now wonder how many victims of domestic violence are in jail because Moore OK police are trained and given federal money to only see men as domestic offenders? Statistics don’t back that up? Well I guess not, how are we going to have statistics showing that there is a female perpetuated domestic violence problem if the male is always arrested and jailed?

Addendum 2/28/2014:

A commenter to this article suggested that domestic violence by women is a one to three time as year thing and defended this police chief and his officers in looking at Mr. Rodriguez only. The problem is that we compiled THIS DATA over a two day period spending just thirty minutes each day. Links to the 13 other pages from the linked page is at the bottom.

  1. I saw where the chief has a son. We all know the statistics if he ever becomes a father. I bet he changes his mind on DV then when she makes the obligatory violence allegation to win a custody battle and the Judge rubber stamps her allegation.

  2. Why would they arrest the man because of wife hit the daughter?

  3. This is just crazy, it takes a simple google search to see hundreds of thousands of women committing violence and killing their kids. The only path to ending violence is to end the gender warfare, blame game, commercialization of the issue and everyone coming together to end it.

  4. The police chief is a political animal. He knows the domestic violence lobby controls his puppet. He enjoys their money.

  5. Every one of the male police officers who responded to that scene knows full well in their own personal lives how domestic violence works. A couple gets into a heated argument, doors are slammed by both parties, shoes are thrown by both parties, threats are made by both parties, one party calls the police, and automatically the man goes to jail. They know this then they perpetuate it at work.

    • They know it because they have to follow their training. Many police departments are trained to arrest the male even when they have evidence the female is the aggressor because their federal money demands it.

  6. To heck with the officers, Jerry Stillings knows in his OWN marriage that if the wife picks up the phone and calls 911 and says she is scared, absent ANY evidence or witnesses he KNOWS his career is over. Yet HE perpetuates the same.

    • Exactly right, per federal law domestic violence cases are handled on preponderance of the evidence instead of innocent until proven guilty which is why we have mandatory arrest policies. It sounds like a hard line against violence until people learn to manipulate the system and use it as a tool to get revenge, win arguments, and use it as a tactical tool in custody battles.

  8. The problem with domestic violence statistics is that the definition of this problem has been lowered to just about any reason someone calls 911. Here in NC, someone in a marriage cursing at the other is considered violence. If the police get involved then it counts as a statistic that gets translated to actual physical violence. Therefore, the 1 in 3 women stat is not all actual combat. I’m not saying that cursing, slamming doors, etc… of course no man is ever arrested when women do these things but hourly men are.

  9. I second the thought that if the police chief ever has JUST an allegation brought against him he knows it will ruin his career and cast doubt on his ability to lead. The police know it, the Judges know it, and the lawyers know it. It is what makes false allegations so useful.

  10. police see false allegations all day and they are forced to arrest people. Just ask any officer you have a personal relationship with.

  12. You know I can side with Jerry Stillings on this issue if the guy resisted his officers. I can not side with the chief if his officers did not do a scene investigation, just arrived and went straight for the man without asking any questions. A man standing over a crying female is not always domestic violence.

  13. This is a tough one for the police chief and officers because domestic violence is so common and dangerous for responding officers. I also agree with you that there is just as much female on male and certainly female on female violence going on, it’s just not reported in the media.

  14. My son had 7 domestic violence allegations brought against him the year that he and his wife separated. He was arrested all 7 times despite him having evidence he was not even in the area (he works construction and travels). Each of the 7 cases were found not guilty by a Judge

  15. I don’t agree that the mother slapping the daughter is the best parenting, but it certainly is not child abuse or something that requires police intervention. But isn’t it interesting that after Mr. Rodriguez died, nobody even entertained the idea that the wife be charged? I’m not saying she should be either, I am merely pointing out the culture that police protect women from being charged.
